TOXIC PIP IMPLANTS : WORLD HEALTH CRISIS

Women everywhere with TOXIC PIP implants are suffering, they are being poisoned, they are frightened, anxious and in pain. We want our governments to recognise the Crisis and change policies which prevent access to the health care & treatment we so desperately need. The World Health Organisation/OMS has recognised the PIP Implant scandal as a Health Crisis. Health Crisis Funding is necessary to help the large numbers of women and children affected into urgent, healthcare, treatment and on-going monitoring.

BAIL??? JAIL for LIFE

Five hundred thousand women and their families world will be devastated by news from France today that 73yr old, criminal fraudster JC Mas has left detention and is released on Bail. TOXIC breast implants, manufactured by PIP as part of a massive international health fraud, earned the Mas, his associates and close family members huge financial benefits at the expense of the health of women from 65 countries.  When questioned by journalists on leaving jail, the thin and pathetic Mas responds to questions concerning his state of mind, saying “I am nothing”.  How is it possible that such an evil man, who founded his manufacturing plant with illegal funds, walk free from any jail?

How can this be JUSTICE?

SHOCKING DOUBLE PIP RUPTURES

"During the surgery, Mr Richards finds one PIP implant to be severely ruptured. It had been detected as a rupture, but it was split into three, with the silicone within physically falling out of the implant upon removal - making it one of the worst splits we have ever found in any of our PIP replacement patients.

The other implant had a small rupture, which would have steadily become worse had it not been replaced.

Mr Richards looks at the batch numbers of the PIPs and analyses them after the surgery, looking in depth at the rupture points of the implants"

Dramatic rise in PIP breast implant ruptures in Australia

According to a report

  • From: news.com.au
  • October 11, 2012 12:00AM

  • Huge rise in PIP breast implants rupturing in Aussie women
  • The numbers: More than 6000 Aussie women have PIP implants
  • "Systemic failure": Senator says ... medicines watchdog had PIP crisis

  • “THE number of breast implants rupturing has soared this year, fuelling urgent calls for a national register for women to log their surgeries.A staggering 429 breast implants produced by French company PIP, have ruptured between January and September this year, according to new figures from the medicines watchdog, the Therapeutic Goods Administration TGA.This number rose from just 37 recorded at the start of the year.In January, the TGA said it would not call for the more than 6000 Aussie women who have PIP implants to have them removed, despite the French Government recommending all French women have them taken out.At the time the TGA said they had received only 37 indications of rupture and this was “well within the expected rupture rate for silicone breast implants.”But independent Senator Nick Xenophon said the alarming new figures were proof the Government must take action.”

The D.I.R.T. Committee by Gail Hamilton

The story of silicone implants and their link to serious health issues is not new.  It began decades ago, when multi-national chemical, biotech and silicone manufacturers  first identified a market.
THE D.I.R.T. COMMITTEE is the true story of one woman in the USA, but it could be the story of any woman who has silicone implants. Gail Hamilton’s story, from implant to illness and fight for survival, to investigation of incriminating documents, to settlement almost a decade earlier runs parallel to the PIP breast implant scandal. Get your copy here

    PIPSLEAK

The PIP Implant scandal has had a devastating impact on as many as 400,000 women and their families worldwide.
In Britain alone there are in excess of 47,000 victims.
On more than three occasions the Government has taken action to minimise the very serious concerns of those affected by publishing hasty and misleading reports about the dangers of PIP implants.
What's the real story?  Find out at PIPSLEAK

    PIP IMPLANTS? - REPORT YOURS!

If you haven,t already completed an Incident Report for the MHRA about your PIP implants now is the time to do so! Anytime between now and the 18 September 2012 would be best.

This is currently the only way to make a report for the record and to show British Authorities how much and how many of us have been affected by fraudulent PIP implants.

Get your serial numbers out and report away ... do this for you and for all those who have been affected. ♥

    What Happens Now?

We recognise that as women are recovering, many are preparing to put this terrible scandal behind them and focus on the things that matter to them now that they feel better.

Work, family, friends may have had to take a back-seat for a while when we were undergoing surgery or in recovery. Now we are starting to feel better, it,s time to find the balance that suits us and our familes.

PIP free, is where we all aim to be in time - back to our happy selves - closing one of the most significant and traumatic chapters in our lives.

It,s really important that you stay in contact tho! Or at least make sure we have a way of reaching you.  We dont think all our health problems caused by PIP implants will be resolved through removal and now we know breast implants have limited life spans and future care and treatment is inevitable for most of us.  We dont believe the whole story has been unravelled yet so there may be a need to get in touch again, a little way down the line.

The most important reason for checking in from time to time is in support of the women who may still be waiting for treatment, or facing complications. Because we all know how hard that is.

Anxious Times for all women affected by PIP implants

This data comes from a short survey involving 66 women with PIP Implants in Britain after the Expert Group Final Report published in June 2012.

    TOXIC PIP IMPLANTS

"Analyses of the silicone contained in PIP breast implants indicates that the material does not pose a long-term risk to human health," explained Susanne Ludgate, clinical director of MHRA. "None of the chemicals listed will cause harm at the levels found within PIP breast implants and many are used routinely in various consumer products." 21 August 2012

It is true that a few shampoos do contain octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) and decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) but they are environmental toxins mostly found in industrial waste and slurry!

The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety SCCS published an opinion 22 June 2010 on
octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (Cyclotetrasiloxane D4) and decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5)

"The SCCS is of the opinion that cyclomethicone (D4, D5) does not pose a risk for human health when used in cosmetic products. Other uses were not considered in this risk assessment." and "noted that D4 is classified as a reprotoxic substance, category 3 [ECB 2006]."

    Who knew?

The French Regulator Afssaps knew and informed international regulators. It's why French women are having TOXIC PIP implants removed. The TGA the Australian Medical Devices regulator also knew.

    Who else?

The European Parliament : Adopted texts published 4 days before Keogh's Expert Group Final Report...

"Calls on the Commission to require adequate toxicological assessments of all medical devices, and to propose that the use of substances that are carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (category 1A or 1B) be phased out, unless no substitutes are available;"

The British Government will continue to poison us ...

    octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4)

We have been extremely busy pushing the DoH to acknowledge the failings of Expert Group Report which has been impacting on our care and treatment since 18 June 2012.

While we are waiting for NHS to return from their holidays to address our concerns, we made contact with the Director of Consumer Affairs and Public Health at the European Commission to urgently press for clarification on issues relating to one specific chemical found in PIP implants octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) which is classified as TOXIC.

As a result of our concerns the MHRA have found themselves under close scrutiny and we see the MHRA actively modifying documents, advice and information on their website.  While we regard aspects of this positively, because additional data is now being made available to women affected by PIP implants, we are not convinced that MHRA is working in best interests of those affected.  We suspect they are actively working to conceal their failures.

    PIP HEALTH SURVEY

We know toxic PIP implants are making us sick!

So we put a HEALTH SURVEY on our web page.

THANKS VERY MUCH IF YOU FILLED IT IN!

    TOXIC PIP IMPLANTS

We know toxic PIP implants are making us sick! So we put a HEALTH SURVEY on our web page.

If you have been affected by PIP implants please fill it in. We are NOT asking for any personal data, just more evidence!

We hope we are all going to be fine five and ten years on ... but we need to begin collecting data to be sure of the care and treatment we need NOW and may need in the FUTURE.
It,s worth noting an American FDA safety update (August 2011) relies on studies of just 44 women with silicone breast implants ... so if we can get at least 44 women to respond ... we will have our own VALID safety data!!

    BIG thanx in advance!

PIP Breast Implants - Give Evidence

Yesterday (23/7/2012) Pip Action Campaigners presented the Department of Health with its grave concerns over the Keogh Final Expert Group Report (18/6), which has a direct impact on the care and treatment of British Women.

We have been asked and we have agreed to submit evidence of our concerns to the Department of Health, in full, on Friday of this week.

This means that if YOU have concerns about the Keogh Report and you are a patient, Dr, healthcare professional or provider.  Now is the time to act.

We ask everyone in Britain, concerned about the intolerable situation women with PIP breast implants are forced to face, JOIN this action and address their concerns in an Open Letter to the Department of Health to arrive no later than 14:00hrs Friday 27th July 2012.

    WARNING: HEALTH HAZARD

We have forced a Department Of Health meeting on Monday 23 July 2012 to challenge the veracity of the Keogh Expert Group Final Report, which we intend to prove to be incomplete and inadequate!

We believe this is a genuinely important opportunity to raise very serious concerns with the Minister for Public Health Anne Milton, who has facilitated this meeting for us, and which we hope will the basis of URGENT changes to current policy.

This is a link to the document that is guiding our care and treatment.

    One good French Lawyer...

French Avocat, Laurent Gaudon is, one of 180 Lawyers, making a case in France against Jean Claude Mas and the PIP company.

In March 2010, after twenty years of amassing a fortune by producing adulterated breast implants, Jean-Claude Mas was forced to close his company Poly Implant Prosthesis (PIP).

Released from Bail on Monday 29th Ocober 2012 pending trial in 2013, Mas made fraudulent claims about the qualities of the product, produced false advertising and endangered the lives of others.  Indicted on dozens of charges, ranging from poisoning, aggravated deception through tax evasion and abuse of social goods, Mas has managed to be declared insolvent, to hide and protect his fortune. He believes he can hide behind this supposed insolvency to avoid compensating his victims.

Some 4,600 victims are already involved in the class action, including British women.

For many women no legal help is available, in Britain the Government has deemed this a civil rather than criminal issue.  Mas was arrested by Interpol, there has been a police investigation in France where the legal process is already set in motion.

    We want JUSTICE...

    Crimes Against Women

British PiP Victims have sustained a devastating blow, by the Keogh Expert Group Final Report published 18/06/2012.
We are horrified that this inadequate, pseudo-scientific document will be the basis of care and treatment in Britain.
We were at the Health Committee debate yesterday, and even though we have submitted complex documents including results of independent toxicological tests on explanted PiP implants as evidence, we believe our Government’s overriding concerns are costs not care.

We want Britain to be urgently brought into line with other European, US and International standards.
The role of the British Regulator the MHRA and the British Government urgently needs to be investigated.  We have already uncovered shocking inconsistencies in our own research, and we ask now that the British PiP Scandal be uncovered as the next horrifying chapter of this dreadful crime against women.

    • The 90-minute debate will take place in Westminster Hall - from 2.30 pm.
    • If you would like watch the debate you can do so from the public gallery, subject to space.  Come along at least an hour before the scheduled start of proceedings.

Continuing Calls to Dismiss Keogh Report

In March 2012 the all-party Health committee asked that : "All possible evidence, including patient-reported experiences, must be gathered and analysed in order to inform the policy response to this issue."

Today, 02/07/12 the Health Committee published the findings from the webforum set up to collect evidence from PiP victims.  We are exceedingly grateful to all the women that contributed, but the fact remains the forum was only open for a month and fewer than 1% of the women affected by PiP Implants had even seen it before it was closed for comment. The Health Committee have published figures showing how many VIEWs the page had on 24 June 2012 a month after closure. Sadly, the information collected has not been included in the findings of the Keogh report (18/06/2012) which says: patient reported symptoms "not helpful" and that PiP implants not toxic, not harmful and not connected to cancer.

We have already made a strong challenge to the INTEGRITY and QUALITY of the science of the assumptions made and the data published by Keogh!

And we again call on the Health Committee to dismiss the final Keogh Expert Group Report as 'Irresponsible, incomplete and inadequate".

We are also doing what we can to collect patient testimonies on our Blog (see post below).
If you haven,t already done so ... please join in!
