Following France’s National Cancer Institute finding a “clearly established link” between breast implants and a specific type of cancer, the country will now order all breast implants to come with a cancer warning. This announcement came after 18 cases of anaplastic large cell lymphoma were directly linked to women with silicone breast implants since 2011.

PIP PUBLIC CONSULTATION
PUBLIC CONSULTATION on the preliminary opinion on the 'safety' of Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP) Silicone Breast Implants (2013 update)
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the above-mentioned preliminary opinion following the Stakeholder Dialogue Procedures (Annex IV to the Rules of Procedures
) of the Scientific Committees.
Background
In 2012, the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks, SCENIHR, was asked for an update of theOpinion on the safety of Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP) Silicone Breast Implants
.
This was mainly due to the fact that the data available on PIP silicone breast implants was limited at the time of the opinion
In its 2012 Opinion, the SCENIHR concluded that the evidence to date, indicating a health risk for women with PIP silicone breast implants, was not strong. However there was some concern regarding an increased inflammation from ruptured PIP silicone breast implants. It was not possible to make a general risk benefit statement at that time. It was also concluded that the risk benefit assessment needs to be based on a patient by patient basis by the aesthetic surgeon, bearing in mind the time since the implantation and the psychological state of the patient.
The aim of this new Opinion
is to update the rapid opinion from 2012 based on additional data produced by and collected from the Member States and other international fora, such as the International Laboratory Testing Panel for PIP breast implants.
Please note that this preliminary Opinion has been approved for public consultation in view of gathering specific comments and suggestions on the scientific basis of the opinion, as well as any other scientific information regarding the questions addressed to enable scientific Committees to focus on issues which need to be further investigated.
Submission of comments
All interested parties are invited to submit their comments and proposals on the preliminary opinion to the following website.
The deadline for submission of comments is 3 January 2014.
NOTA BENE:
1. In line with the transparency principle outlined in the Rules of Procedures
of the Scientific Committees, all submissions and the names of the submitters in response to this public consultation may be made available to the general public via SANCO's website.
2. Only comments submitted in accordance with the Rules of Procedures
(Annex IV) will be taken into account.

PIP Implant Analysis
British 'experts' advising the government do not consider further testing necessary on fraudulent PIP implants
For some unexplained motive, the health authorities in Britain have taken the view that nothing can be gained by conducting further testing on fraudulent PIP implants. Yet physicians, surgeons, independent experts and victims, particularly those reporting immune system, neurological and toxicity illness still want answers!
"We hope that as more facts about PIP Implants emerge, there will be a greater level of understanding of our symptoms and a better standard of care and treatment from the medical professionals treating us."
If you have explanted PIP implants and you wish to participate in and contribute to studies on PIP implants, you will find all the details you need here!
There are two forms to complete. The first is the PIP Implant Analysis form which you see below and can be completed online, the second is the Symptom Survey which you can download here:
http://pipactioncampaign.org/Symptom%20Survey%20web.pdf
PIP Implants can be sent for analysis regardless of where you are in the world. Regrettably as many as half a million women and their families have been affected globally by the PIP implant fraud.
Participating in studies on PIP implants will not provide all the answers but it gives all of us hope that more will be learned about the effects of contaminated silicones on our bodies for the future.
Dr Beretta, the senior chemist undertaking the analyses at Milan University, talks about his preliminary findings in some detail on PIP Action Campaign's social networking and Facebook pages. Please feel free to join in the discussions and to learn more about PIP Implant Analysis at our Facebook Group:
Request to join the PIP Action Campaign group on Facebook or find us on the web at PIP Action Campaign and at PIPSLEAK
Send the completed Symptom Survey with your implants to the laboratory at Milan University at the address that you can find at the end of the PIP Implant Analysis form below.

Get Your Serial Numbers OUT!
Some women still do not know they have fraudulent PIP implants so we have launched a new campaign Get Your Serial Numbers Out!
Click on the link or on the image below to learn more.
We want to encourage all women with silicone breast implants (SBIs) to check their implant details including their serial numbers and follow them up if necessary.
Please pass it on!
In the UK 47,000 women are thought to have been affected by the PIP global health fraud. As many as 100,000 women in Europe and 500,000 women worldwide have become victims of the crime, resulting from a massive Regulatory failure.
Even though the P.I.P. fraud was exposed in 2010 by French Police when they closed the manufacturing plant and arrested the company's directors, some British women have only just discovered they have fraudulent P.I.P. Breast Implants.
In Britain, the Health & Safety Regulator (the MHRA) raised the alert about fraudulent P.I.P. implants two days before Christmas in 2011, twenty-one months later.
It was the responsibility of the operating hospital or clinic to notify patients if they had P.I.P implants. Unfortunately, the breast implant register had been scrapped by the MHRA five years earlier, clinics had closed-down or disappeared: two of Britain's top 2 providers restructured just to avoid their Duty of Care to their P.I.P. patients.
Relying on disreputable clinics and without an Implant Register, notifying all patients affected by P.I.P. has been an impossible task.
So, just to be sure which silicone breast implants you have, and to be ready for the Breast Implant Register when it arrives:
Please Check Your Serial Numbers.
Year/ Date of Surgery: .........................................................
Clinic: ..............................................................................
Surgeon: ...........................................................................
Clinic Phone Number: ..........................................................
Medical Device: High Risk Category III Silicone Breast Implants
Manufacturer : ...................................................................
LEFT
Size: ..................................... Model: ................................
Lot: ......................... Serial Number: ...................................
RIGHT
Size: ..................................... Model: ................................
Lot: ......................... Serial Number: ....................................
If you experience problems, symptoms or complications with your silicone breast implants, these should be notified to the MHRA using an Adverse Incident Report. Your clinic or surgeon should do the same. You will find the necessary forms on the link above and on the MHRA website.
Please make a note of the manufacturer's name, the year, the Lot and the unique serial numbers. Keep the original labels and your implant documents in a safe place, somewhere easy to find and easy to remember. Why not do it today?
If you are unable to confirm the Serial Numbers of your silicone breast implants & your clinic cannot or will not help, assume your implants are P.I.P. Please contact your GP or your clinic and begin your journey to removal today.

Mail on Sunday
"The doctors who conducted the research, including nanotechnology professor Alexander Seifalian and top plastic surgeon Professor Peter Butler, now say all PIPs should be removed...
...The researchers, from the Royal Free Hospital in North London and University College London, tested the strength of the material in the PIPs...
Senior surgeons last night said the study should be taken seriously amid claims that the NHS has been failing to address the needs of women."
